It's Microsoft Windows!! What can you expect?? It came out with errors, the updates have errors, it will always have errors!! But, I'm too old and too stuck in a groove to try to learn anything else now. I knew what it was before I purchased it but, again, I'm too old to change now. I will deal with the built-in problems as they come up. At least it is still supported, for now. I replaced Windows XP with Windows 7 so I could at least get some support. I tried Windows 10 and got rid of it in less then a week because I couldn't even read my email without "ERROR INTERRUPTION". On top of which, it kept telling me my hardware was "not compatible with Windows 10" even though the pre-install check said everything was good. Again, it's "Microsoft Windows". I am actually tempted to get a Mac and learn it just to end the error problems.Read full review

Before putting the disc in your DVD drive, visit Microsoft's Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Web site and click the Download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor button. On the second Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor page, click the Download button. Save the file on your desktop. Install "Windows7UpgradeAdvisorSetup". Launch the program and when the program appears, plug all the equipment you want to use with Windows 7 into your computer's USB or Firewire ports, turn on everything plugged in, and then click the Start Check button. Read and print out the Windows Advisor's results which explain which parts need drivers or must be replaced before installation. Insert the Windows 7 DVD into your DVD drive and click Run Setup, if necessary. When the installation program finally comes up for air, click Install Now. You will next be prompted the Go Online to Get the Latest Updates. Bypass the option since it stalled out for over an hour for me. More on this later. Accept the 44-page License Agreement Terms and click Next. Choose Upgrade and click Next. Read the Compatibility Report, if offered, and click Next. In the Type Your Windows Product Key dialog box, type your product key provided on the disc case and click next. For me, the key proved to be out dated but worked during the installation. More on this later. Next, choose Use Recommended Settings. Confirm the time and date settings, and then click Next Chose your computers location. Log on and run Windows Update. If this produces Error 8007000e, follow the following steps: 1. Download and install update KB3102810 and Hotfix KB947821. Many thanks to MS Community member Andrew C-45 for this advice! 2. Once these are installed, Windows Update should work properly. 3. Be prepared to sit thru downloading and installing over 200 updates. Three days after installing and using Windows7, I got an on screen message from Microsoft that the Product Key was Out-of-Date requiring a Final Phone Activation. Choose this option and follow the prompts. All of this worked for me. Now all is working well as expected. Hope this works for you too. Good Luck!Read full review

Product was as advertised and it was a great upgrade from Windows Vista which was the previous operating system installed. From there I used the free upgrade (which expired July 29th) to upgrade all the way to Windows 10. The only real hitch that I encountered (which is the reason for four instead of five stars) is that I had to call Microsoft to get an updated product key. Not sure what the issue was. Whether it was the age of the software or that I used the package as an upgrade rather than a clean install. Either way it works now and I am satisfied with my purchase.

Upgraded from VISTA on older laptop. Easy to install. Stuck disc in and took off. Had to activate via phone since would not activate online. Phone activation was easy too. Very happy with whole process. Now the older laptop works much better and has a few more years of usefulness.

It was an easy install for my laptop (laptop had Windows Vista Home Premium). Used the Full Version ( clean install). Had a lot of Windows Updates to download (there was over 200 of them) after the install and activated the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium. After everything was done laptop ran good, didn't slow it down to much. I'm happy with it.
