Looking at this amp, you'll wonder if it really pushes 300watts of power. Well, it does! Neat design, cool features, nice punch and the built in tuner is a great touch. This amp delivers as promised. An Awesome buy for the money, I recommend this amp for church musicians and other small to mid sized venue players. Perfect for large venues if it's going to be mic and PA supported. I’ve been involved with music since 1964. I alternate between guitar and bass just to keep it interesting. Recently I decided to give performing another go and committed to buying a new bass amp. Over the years I’ve used a number of amps from Marshall to Fender and many in between. There are so many brands out there now that I had no idea where to start. I plan on just a few club gigs so I don’t really need an SVT. My budget is fairly modest so I can’t justify one of the new high tec custom rigs that are half GDP of Switzerland. I shopped around quite a bit and landed on the little Peavey amp and you know, it’s true…even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. This is a nice, solid little amp. It has more than enough power for what I need more features than I can take advantage of (like I said, since 1964) Bang and BOOM for the buck, hard to beat. JohnRead full review
The Amp. purchase clearly was a good move. I no longer play in a band as I did 45 years ago, but when I did, most all in my "generation" used multiple amplifiers to get the loud volume desired. This Peavey has excellent sound quality, and volume (when needed/if needed) and is compact enough as to not interfere with foot traffic through our house. The purchase was something I wanted to do since I retired last Fall. The sound quality and the additional features makes me glad I chose this purchase. Paul McCartney better look out!
This is a great bass amp! It's also good for keyboards since it has a tweeter. It's one of the few bass amps with sufficient wattage (300 watts rms) and a 15-inch speaker that you can buy for under $500. It has a wide variety of tone controls---gain, low/mid/high, and volume---and each of these knobs has a corresponding pushbutton that does something different to the sound. One adds punch, one adds bass boost, one changes the center frequency of the equalizer knob, etc. It's also light enough (43 pounds) to be easily portable. And it has separate inputs for passive and active bass guitars, as well as an auxiliary mic input.
This amp is just right for studios and small to medium venues. For larger venues, it has an XLR output for the board. Lots of tone control. Very pleased so far.
