I purchased the entire series of the The Sopranos, and I was delighted. Well, that's exactly what I received, so I suppose I really have nothing to complain about. The problem is that the discs are packaged as "generically" as possible, (in cheap cardboard folders with four slots each, and each disc in a small plastic bag.) There is no description included whatsoever, as to what's on each episode. The only way to know one disc from another in each yearly episode is the blessed fact that the discs are numbered. (To find the name and description of the episodes, I actually had to go online and print out copies of each episode's descriptions, and then try to figure out which went with what.) So - Why did I buy it? I love the Sopranos, and I'm on a limited budget. If you're in the same spot, this is definitely the deal for you. Just be prepared to do some work to enjoy it, as I did - and don't expect the "royal treatment." I decided to buy it because the description of the product and the accompanying photo made it look like a polished product, which, unfortunately, it's not. Again, though, to be fair, SO FAR, I must say that I got exactly what I paid for: A complete set of the entire Sopranos' series - and SO FAR - as of the middle of Season Three - there are no major glitches in the discs, at least. (I'll report back if there are.) I'm not writing this to complain, only to inform other buyers about exactly what they're getting - and not getting - which I wasn't aware of.Read full review
I honestly thought it was a great purchase. I am thrilled. It was worth an investment to my personel home entertainment library. I really wasn't a wise guy film fan until my younger brother got me hooked on this show. I mean who would have thought that a lead guitarist from the E Street Band with hardly any acting experience land a big role as Tony Soprano's right-hand man. It was also a make or break show for some of the up-and-coming actors. Overall, I thought it was worth it!!!
Where do I start when I got this I was so happy I got it for my dad for his 60th birthday it said that it was "original" and "factory sealed" so naturaly I was pleased I mean the price was great about $100.00 dollars less than at other websites like wal-mart.com etc... but it was to good to be true when I recieved it I opend it up and right away little red flags started popping up my first clue was that the dvd's were in little plastic baggies in there slots and the front of the discs looked like they were stamped on with a label maker!!! needless to say I was not happy so I did a little reasearch on the web and I came across amazon.com and that confirmed it they have picutres of an authentic box set and a counterfit box set mine was definatley counterfit. I don't blame the sellar because I don't think they knew about it but now I am stuck with this junk box set and have to replace it for my dad at about $200.00 dollars. so my advice is if it's to good to be true then it is.... I hope this helps someone not to make the same mistake that I did.Read full review
I grew up in Brooklyn ny and it’s so entertaining to watch a show that stars a lot of people that I used to run into in High School and in clubs back in the 80s and 90s. Now on to the series. It’s great, funny, intense at times, and all the actors especially Jim G (Anthony Soprano) (rip) who I got to meet once gave a riveting performance throughout the whole series. The writers came up with excellent plots and the storyline kept its balance throughout the entire series. Now, On to this particular box set. What I love the most about it is the way that it’s packaged. Almost like a cigar box that they used to carry bets and “slips” in. And it comes with 2 extra cds full of the music used throughout the series. And a few bonus discs called “dinner with the sopranos” where a bunch of the actors sit down to a meal with David Chase and talk about the series. And last but not least. A few of the episodes have the option to listen to comity from some of the actors, writers, producers, and directors. All and all my review is as follows: “This is the greatest set of dvds that I ever purchased in my life” The pics below were from when I got to meet Jim in person. That’s not included in the box set. I purchased The Sopranos - The Complete HBO Series which includes all 86 episodes on 33 discs. This Authentic(weighs approximately 10 lbs)HBO Set is contained in a lavishly illustrated 16-page episode guide. Bonus features include 2 full-length sound tracks on 3 CDs that include lost scenes, interviews, a host of tunes from the show's many memorable musical moments, etc. This beautiful set is truly a collecter's dream. The black & red album and storage case is very durable, as well as, stunning. I purchased this particular set as I was interested in all of the many features plus I had never seen the original HBO version. I totally prefer the HBO version to the censored A&E version. I love this set and recommend it to the many fans of The Sopranos. My only criticism is that the print in the album is on the small side. All in all it was a fantastic purchase!!!!!!Read full review
