What drew me to this product was that it contained a fairly good representation of what used to be 12-inch vinyl singles of the late Mr. Nelson's work. "Let's Go Crazy", for example, is the full version contained in the "Purple Rain" film, and to me is the only version that should be played. "Pop Life", treated as a throw-away on "Around The World In A Day", is given the full treatment here. The only let-down to me was the version chosen of "She's Always In My Hair", which was originally a B-side of the "Raspberry Beret" single. It's an alternate take that (to my ears) is inferior to the version released in the '80s. I own most of the albums, so I skipped over Disc One and stampeded to Disc 2, which alone was worth the price of admission (plus shipping).

Love Prince like me? Then you'll want to buy the Ultimate Prince CD / album as it does a great job of capturing Prince's funk and eclectic career. My problem with his 'greatest hits' albums is that they don't do a good job of capturing Prince's newer / later career and instead rely on the early classics like Little Red Corvette and When Doves Cry. Great songs obviously - but so are Rasberry Baret and some of the newer tracks and albums. The Ultimate Prince does a nice job compiling it all: 1. Purple Medley 2. I Wanna Be Your Lover 3. Uptown 4. This CD set of two discs has the majority of the best of Prince. The quality is very good and you can hear each individual instrument. If you don't currently own a Prince CD, this would be a great choice for you.
